Feed Information
Feed Information:
There are very few pesticides specifically labeled
for the many varieties of feed.
The most common treatment for feed is to apply a herbicide to control
weeds early in the season. A pre-plant or pre-emergence
application is sometimes used, a method which is effective if
precipitation occurs soon after application.
In many cases, a post emergence application is used. These post emerge
applications can also work well. The important thing is to treat the
feed early, usually when it is about two inches tall. At this stage, the
weeds are smaller, and the potential crop damage is minimized.
Herbicide applications for feed can be quite economical, as a relatively
small amount of herbicide is required.
It is possible for greenbugs (aphids) to infest feed to a significant
degree. There are very few guidelines as to when the infestation
is economic, but generally speaking, when the aphids have large colonies
on the upper leaves and when there is significant residue on the soil
below the plaint on the soil, treatment is advised.
